Tell us about you (kids, partner, hobbies, volunteering – we want to get to know you!):   I’m a wife and mom.  I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for 24 years.  Our daughter will be a senior in high school.  I work full time as a Computer Information Technologist for the State of Missouri – Department of Mental Health.  We live on Grasshopperlane in Jefferson City, Mo.  Our church home is Capital West Christian  Church and we serve where needed.  After work you can usually find me in the kitchen, out in the garden, working on our vintage camper or creating something in the work room.

Favorite color:  Green

Favorite beverage while creating:  Coca-Cola

What you listen to while creating:  Depends on what I’m working on, what time of the day it is and who is home.  Generally Spirit FM is on but if I’m by myself – Bon Jovi or Josh Groban at full volume makes for a very productive crafting session.

TV shows you can’t live without watching:  Duck Dynasty!  A fantastic day would include time in the workroom and a Duck Dynasty Marathon.

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve found in your purse?  A left over pork chop my mom sent home for our puppy.  I totally forgot it was in there until a week later.  Definitely gives new meaning to the word “Yuck!”

What is something that we would be surprised to learn about you?  When I grow up I want to be a Monster Truck Driver.

Besides paper/wood crafting, what do you like to do?  I love to go “junking”…..I can spend hours wandering around the antique stores and flea markets.  The stories those old pieces can tell you…..love it!

How often do you create?  Almost daily.  I generally have several projects going at once and try to sneak in a few minutes here and there.  I’ve also been known to drag a project or two to work with me for some lunch hour creative therapy.  Creativity is a huge part of who I am – it’s what keeps me centered.  Not having even that few stolen minutes each day tends to make me frustrated and a tad bit crabby.

Favorite scrap/paper-related manufacturers:
Graphic 45, 7Gypsies, Webster’s Pages & Tim Holtz.  Anything that is vintage, weathered, etc.

Soundtrack based on your life would be called:  Murphy’s Law…..never, ever ask “what’s next” in our household.  I can guarantee that the result will not be near as entertaining to you as it is to everyone else.

Tell us about you (kids, partner, hobbies, volunteering – we want to get to know you!):

My husband, David, and I have been married for 9 years and have two adorable boys, Vance and Rylan. They are all to smart for their own good and I spend most of my free time keeping them in line. ;) We love to help out when we can, whether that’s packing your moving truck, cleaning streams, or rooting on participants in the Trail to a Cure ride. We’ve even been known to run for causes we support, but now that the boys are getting bigger pushing the double stroller has become more difficult and slowed down our efforts there - can’t wait until they can run along with us!  When we’re not feeling quite so active we enjoy watching movies/TV shows on DVD and eating out. I’m also really getting into cooking in an effort to find tasty treats that keep Vance’s allergies at bay! On a day to day basis, I’m a barista and David’s an astronomy grad student so we just juggle our schedules so that one of us can always be home with the guys. Not that they let us stay home much - they love adventures to the park, pool, grocery store, etc. We’re pretty much always on the go.

Favorite color:

I always say red because I love wearing it, but I craft with a lot of cool colors.

Favorite beverage while creating:

Water. I drink a lot of it everyday, but iced coffee or tea are my next go-to drinks.

What you listen to while creating:

Silence. I create during the boys’ “quiet time” so I normally just revel in the peace. Lyrics are really distracting for me and I spend more time singing, thinking about the lyrics than I do creating.

TV shows you can’t live without watching:

In the past few months we’ve gotten into Big Bang Theory and can’t wait for the new season to start. Other shows that the parents enjoy include House, Stargate, and CSI.

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve found in your purse?

Thankfully, my kids haven’t hit the stuffing unusual things into my purse stage - though there’s always more Sharpies/crayons/lip balm/recipes than I need.

What is something that we would be surprised to learn about you?

I graduated college with a degree in journalism, hated the field once I had a job and became a barista. I quickly promoted up, and had my own store in less than two years with the company but stepped back to make my family more of a priority. In stepping back down the ladder I also freed up some time in my schedule for crafting. I don’t know if it is the lack of stress from running the store or the release from being creative, but I like to think I’m a much gentler person than I was back then.

Besides paper/wood crafting, what do you like to do?

I enjoy a good book - Water for Elephants and The Night Circus are recent favorites. Enjoying said book in a warm tub of bubbles with a glass of wine never hurt either.

How often do you create?

I try to do something daily, often I have time for an entire layout but that entirely depends on how long quiet time lasts. I try to do  more administrative aspects of my craft while watching TV with the hubs, updating my blog, searching Pinterest for inspiration, connecting with other crafters via Facebook, etc.

Favorite scrap/paper-related manufacturers:

This might be the hardest question on the list! Based on sheer amount of paper by them, My Mind’s Eye. But I also love Ranger Distress Inks, Lori Whitlock’s lines with Echo Park, and We R Memory Keepers tools.

Soundtrack based on your life would be called:

Radio Scan. No joke. I hate listening to commercials, so I spend most of my time scanning for bits of songs that catch my ear. Sometimes I’ll stop and listen to an entire song, but unless I really know it I normally just hit scan again.

What is something that we would be surprised to learn about you? I’m a huge fantasy football player; I have even taken home a few championships.

Besides paper/wood crafting, what do you like to do?  Spending time with my family!

How often do you create?  Every day!  It is my release. Being a full time Engineer my brain just needs to relax, paper crafting is it for me.

Favorite scrap/paper-related manufacturers: WOW, great question, If I was on a stranded island and only had one manufacturer to choose to take with me (you know I would scrapbook my adventure) It would have to be hands down, October Afternoon.

Soundtrack based on your life would be called: Across the universe.

Tell us about you (kids, partner, hobbies, volunteering – we want to get to know you!):

I am a Christian, a follower of Christ, and my highest goal is to honor God. The most satisfying thing in my life is my family which includes my husband of 29 years. We have three grown sons and two precious daughters-in-law who, much to my amusement, share not only a last name but also their first names. We also have a fabulous treasure, delight and joy in our first granddaughter. I am a military mom who has made it through two sons being deployed—one to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. One of them is still in the Missouri National Guard. I make my living as an editor but I play in ink, paint, paper and gesso.

Favorite color:

Me, oh, my. All of them.

Favorite beverage while creating:

Unsweetened tea.

What you listen to while creating:

The sounds of silence, TV, JoyFMonline.org

TV shows you can’t live without watching:

I love BBC shows—Downtown Abbey, Inspector Lewis and Endeavour. Survivor and The Voice are my favorite reality shows.

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve found in your purse?

I try to travel light. Right now I have a stamp from Japan in my purse.

What is something that we would be surprised to learn about you?

I have traveled much of the world including six weeks in India. …All with 20-30 teenagers in tow.

Besides paper/wood crafting, what do you like to do?

Blog about crafting. Pinterest! Admire my flower beds… Best of all—visit with our kids and granddaughter! Shopping garage sales and my favorite consignment shop are right up there on the list too.

How often do you create?

I almost always have something to create within arm’s reach. It might be a little zentangle during TV, watercolors while my husband hogs the computer, or downright mixed-media mayhem. Something is going probably about five out of seven days.

Favorite scrap/paper-related manufacturers:

Probably Seven Gypsies.
